John Galt a character in Ayn Rands "Atlas Shrugged". Some people use it as a sarcastic phrase to mean something like "Dont ask, don't know" or "why bother."

Lindsay, that's right! John Galt was the real protagonist in Atlas Shrugged because he tried to stop the motor of the world -- and succeeded. As you pointed out, he was both a real person and also an expression of despair because he was misunderstood.

What does Galt have to do with writing and editing? IMO, anyone who can read a 1200 page book has an excellent chance of improving his or her writing skills. Our own writing gets better with reading. So, I'll send a copy of Be Your Own Editor to my Lindsay Barker address. Hope you like it.

Yes, David, you're right. Sorry you were a little late. I'll keep running these quizzes every two weeks.

But, people, we need apostrophes before the book title -- e.g., Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged :-)
